Get Custom Profile Link For Facebook

I had started using Facebook from this month (Nov. 2009). To be honest my main reason was to promote my blogs but later on i really started enjoying it. One week ago I came to a profile: http://www.facebook.com/malika.theshy. I was wondering how she got profile URL with her name. I asked her but she too was not having any clue about it. But now I know how to get custom profile url for yourself. I will share it with you.

I had changed my profile URL from this http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?ref=profile&id=100000437064864 to this http://www.facebook.com/azadshaikh today.

You will able to choose a username on a first-come, first-serve basis for your profile and the Facebook Pages that you administer by visiting

[contentblock id=13]It will show options based on your actual name in Facebook profile or you can chose any other username. Your username may contain alphanumeric characters (A-Z, 0-9) or a period or full stop (”.”). Once you select a username, you cannot change or transfer it (so, be careful). If you think, “why the hell use this to make Facebook profile public that can be leeched by search engines?” – Well, you can chose cool looking username and still keep away from search engine listing. Using privacy settings.

Grab your Custom URL Facebook username for easy looks, sharing and searchable (if you want that!).

Note: You cannot change the username later, so be sure to grab a good one!

    Hi Azad,

its worth noting that getting a custom link (“username” in facebook terminology) for a personal profile is easier than getting the same for a “brand page”. The process is the same but the rules for a “page” are slightly different. To get a vanity url for a company page you need to have atleast 1000 fans. I mention this because I have 2-3 company pages and do not yet have enough fans to be eligible. It took me some time to work out why. Regards Peter

      Hello Peter,
Facebook had changed the rules regarding custom url for pages. Now it takes only 25 fans to get a custom url for your facebook page. Here the proof checkout Internet Geeks Facebook fan page http://www.facebook.com/InternetGeeks . I think this change will help every brand promoter on facebook. We are try different things with our fan page and hope to get our fan page completed by this month. The real problem is the brand/logo for our website, i had not yet completed it. Internet Geeks is not just a blog, lots of new features are comming very soon.
Thanks for reading out post and dropping a comment. If you want any help regarding wordpress then you are welcome anytime.
      Warm Regards

Hey Azad, I have a question! I just cant find the way how to get a unique link for my fanpage. To get a username is easy but this is kind of annoying…pls help, thanks

    1. Azad Shaikh says:

      Hi Alex,
It’s same as profile name i.e using http://www.facebook.com/username/ then selecting the your page. Remember your page must have atleast 25 fans before you can get a custom url.
      Hope this helps.
